On polymaths
Polymaths are rare. After the last decades of specialization and automation, openness, integration and transferability of knowledge are the ultimate competitive advantage. What I mean by openness is being ready to overcome any challenge, being adaptable and not attached to the past. Flowing dynamically like water. Integration is taking concepts and abstractions from experience and intellectual education to solve complex problems in real life challenges. This capacity increases more than proportionally with the volume, variety and quality of information that you are exposed to every day. It is also enhanced by the real attention you give to these things in real life. Finally, transferability is thinking creatively using knowledge from one field to another apparently distant. The most important lesson from this habit is the realization, the consciousness, that unity is a fundamental feature of reality.
