Writing.

For years I have kept a private journal, in Spanish, English and sometimes French. What follows is a curated selection: 274 entries lightly edited for a reader and stripped of names and things that belong only to the people who lived them. What remains is the shape of a mind trying to organize itself, one day at a time.

Filter by year or by theme. Entries appear newest first.

Visualization as a decision-making superpower

Meditation is not just about stillness; it is a tool for visualization. By visualizing what I will do during the day, I increase the probability of it actually happening. It provides awareness of the thoughts and images roaming the mind upon waking and gives me a sense of rationality and perspective for decision-making. This practice is a superpower that turns a reactive morning into a proactive one. It ensures that my actions are anchored to my own intentions rather than just responding to the responsibilities perceived as important by others.

Pragmatic reframing and small wins

When tackling a new habit, like cooking more at home to save for investments and education, a binary approach often fails. Aiming for 'all-in or nothing' is not pragmatic; it leads to quick discouragement. Instead of looking at things in black and white, focus on managing expectations and celebrating small wins. Reframing the task is also essential. Instead of seeing a chore, see it as an opportunity to be creative and produce something. By identifying the limiting beliefs that stop progress in one area, you can negotiate with yourself and find a middle ground that serves your long-term financial and personal goals.

The environment as a mirror

I have noticed that when I am intensely annoyed with someone, I am usually reflecting something that is inside of me. I am mirroring the environment rather than seeing it as it truly is. This applies to professional life and even my perception of national cultures. It is my responsibility to maintain the awareness to realize when this is happening and the discernment to make rational decisions regardless. If I want to change my environment, I must improve myself and expand my consciousness. It is not practical to be angry with the components of an environment; it is far more effective to practice my own principles so that my surroundings are eventually forced to adjust to me.

The strategic necessity of quality peers

The next step in my journey toward mastery is interpersonal. To achieve this, I need to surround myself with quality people, ensuring that relationships are mutually beneficial in every case. This requires letting go of old social beliefs and bringing intentional focus to my circle. I want to find people who are more intelligent, kind, and visionary than I am, so we can help each other be and do more every day. Finding the right environment and the right peers is not a passive act; it is a strategic requirement for growth.

To be different deal with the different

To be different, it is necessary to deal with the different. There is a natural tendency to seek what is familiar, especially as an immigrant, but deciding on a different location and different opportunities is fundamental to evolving in the long run. The cost is short-term and imaginary: the mind will crave comfort and try to convince you that a new place is wrong by highlighting only the negatives. I experienced this in France, but leaving that comfort zone allowed me to understand and explore the things that now excite me for the future. The irrational gut feeling must be balanced with a rational plan to decide on the next adventure, the next paradigm shift, and new mentors. Resistance is expected; the key is knowing how to manage it to keep moving forward.

Sleep as the foundation of systems

Sleep is the foundation of everything else. It provides the energy for the day, the focus for what is important and priority, and the time to dedicate to both the sciences and the arts, the professional and the personal. To make my system sustainable, I must maintain a consistent routine even on weekends. When I neglect it on Thursdays or Fridays to avoid feeling limited, I am actually sabotaging my long-term output. True freedom comes from planning and implementation, not from a lack of structure. The goal is to move from using willpower to creating an automatic, natural flow.

The courage to evolve

Every time I go to work now, I feel a certain weight. I have a deep desire to embark on my next adventure and translate my ideas into a physical reality. Taking the next step involves uncertainty, but my gut feeling insists that I must move forward to continue expanding. It is necessary for my evolution. I have spent a long time in preparation and personal discovery; now I just need the courage to take the leap to the next level. I choose to act based on the values I want to cultivate and the long-term objectives I have set, confirming once more that I can change my reality through the power of my own mind.

The power of contradictory perspectives

When I don't meditate, my mind begins to wander, generating endless simulations of my environment and the people around me. This mental process is exhausting and drains my vitality. It is a reminder that while improvising is sometimes necessary, most of life is predictable through planning. Balancing two seemingly contrary perspectives -planning and improvisation- is what separates high performers from the rest. It allows you to achieve objectives never seen before. Although it seems counterintuitive, the contradictions within your being make you more complete and better prepared to capture key opportunities. I am working to change my paradigms and mutate my identity in the direction I want to go.

"When thou risest unwillingly, let this thought be present, I am rising to the work of a human being."
Marcus Aurelius, Meditations V, 1
